For most of us, the weekend after Thanksgiving is synonymous with one thing: leftover turkey. But now you have something else to look forward to: Upland’s Leftover Turkey Trail Run and Novemberfest!
Join us for a chip-timed run through Eagle Creek Park followed by a party featuring an open beer bar included in the registration price, food (not included), and live music.
Courses
5k: A moderately difficult 5k trail through beautiful late autumn scenery
10k: You guessed it. Like the 5k, but twice as long.
Group Loop: This option is a little less conventional, and good for serious runners or friends looking for a fun run. You supply a team of 2, 4 or 10 runners, and we supply a 1 mile trail loop. Your team has one hour to complete as many laps as you can/want. Each team size competes in its own category, and the teams to cover the most laps in one hour wins. Go for the glory, or take a beer break while your buddies are sweating it out. It’s up to you. And better yet, the larger your team, the more you save per person!
In addition to competing for the most laps run in your team size category, you can also compete for the Upland Spirit Award! There is only one winning team across all Group Loop team sizes, so 2 person teams, 4 person teams, and 10 person teams are all going head to head. We’ll judge you based on your team name, costumes, and any other way you can think of to show your spirit.
Winners receive a private tour and tasting of the new Upland brewery in Bloomington.

Location and Check-in
The Leftover Turkey Trail Run will take place on the west side of Eagle Creek Park, in the Eagle’s Crest area. You do NOT use one of the normal Eagle Creek Park entrances. Instead, enter off of Fishback Road. (Click here for a map)
Check-in/Day-of registration will take place inside the house located at the end of the park road.
Check-in/Day-of registration begins at 1:30pm.
All ages are welcome, but only those 21+ can partake of the beer.
Is there a prize/award for the winner or top three in the 5k?
The top three in each event will receive awards/trophies.
Is there a course map?
Sue, there is not a course map. The courses distances are 5k, 10k, and 1 mile, and they will be well marked.
Is there a time limit for completing the 5K?
Karen, we don’t have a particular time limit, but it is a run, not a walk.
Is this a straight trail run or will there be obstacles involved?

My spouse and I are interested, however 1 of us drinks and the other doesn’t….. can those that do NOT purchase the party still participate without drinking?

Yes, you just won’t get the wristband that allows you to get beer if you sign up for one of the run-only options.
Do we get a free beer after the race? Or I guess, what comes with the ‘party’?

There is an open beer bar at the party with live music. Scratch truck will be on site to provide food, but that is not included in your registration.
Will the entertainment/food be indoors or under a tent…….. just in case of bad weather? Is the food included in the registration fee?

The bar will be located indoors, but the plan is for food and music to be outside. If the weather looks bad, we will either move the party indoors or have you under a tent.

can we run with kids in a jogging stroller?

I’m afraid strollers aren’t allowed. The terrain is too rough, and the trail is quite narrow at points.

Will the looping race and the 5K, 10K be going at the same time? Or can I run the 5K then join in the loop?

At one point all three events will be happening simultaneously, so I’m afraid you can’t do multiple events.

The tech shirts are sized like unisex t-shirts, so choose your size as though it was a regular t-shirt.

I assume the 2 person group loop includes 2 tee shirts and the group can do the 10K?

The teams are only for the Group Loop, which is separate from the 10k. The shirts were only available for those who registered early (early registration ended Sunday). But there are still good times and good beer to be had.
Will there be same day / onsite registration?
Yes, beginning at 1:30.
